Woods is known for covering real surfaces with a vibrant and playful fake wood grain motif. Using traditional woodblock techniques, he has transformed the facades of existing structures, as well as the floors and walls of galleries. Furniture, however, allows him the opportunity to decorate every surface of one entity. Split into three compartments of different sizes, “Woodstack” recalls the structure of Woods’ “WoodBlock House.” Unlike the architecture, this side table is entirely open, featuring neither drawers or doors. Moreover, the woodgrain pattern covers every last bit of the wood, whereas inside his house it is limited to the main staircase.
