Since the 1990s, Piet Hein Eek has created products from different waste materials—metal, wood, ceramics and textiles. For his most recent project, “Waste-Waste 40 × 40,” the designer used his leftover material from previous Waste works, dividing them into scraps and gluing them together. So as not to limit material, which is distributed across numerous products, the company doesn’t usually consider limited editions. For Chamber, Eek has made an exception by producing a series of 25 designs, each made in editions of 25. By continuing the “Waste-Waste 40 × 40” series, as “Waste Waste 80 × 80,” Eek has given a greater value to scrapwood and the products, such as this armchair, that are made of it.
