For Collection #3 curator Matylda Krzykowski asked Niek Hendrix to make three new works that speculate with images in relation to the work of artist Richard Hamilton. In his research of the show “This is Tomorrow” and Hamilton’s oeuvre Hendrix collected images that invoke an abstract understanding of how interpretation of time, space and being blend together. Key to developing these works were the Golden Record that was sent to space with a database of images and the works “Man Machine and Motion” by Hamilton from 1955. The works deal with questions of life and death, the perception of time and space in the present, past and future.
