Made by electrolysis, this watering can is part of Bakker’s “Copper Collection,” that includes a stool, a soy pourer, candleholders, a mixing bowl and a saucepan, using a combination of traditional and new techniques like moulding, galvanising and lacquering. Bakker’s approach can be best described as designing from the inside out. Inspired by the flow of water, Bakker reduced the form of the watering can, keeping its curves, so it became one seamless spout. Even though its shape is determined through analysis, the intention wasn’t to improve the object but to reveal its intrinsic and unexpected poetry.
