This limited edition wallpaper shares its name with Studio Job’s 2007–2008 collection of five bronze-cast furnishings, consisting of a cabinet, a mantel clock, a table, a standing lamp and, a jewel safe. Each of these is highly expressive in form, modelled on iconic architecture or popular culture. Golden surfaces are detailed with deeply carved iconographic reliefs of smokestacks, missiles, falcons, gas masks, warplanes and wrenches; this reflects the outrageous excesses of America’s 19th century tycoons, the “Robber Barons,” after which the wallpaper is named. These details have been separated, simplified and expanded for the “Robber Baron Wallpaper,” creating an explosive mural adorned in gold. Offered in an edition of 50 multiples, it gives a similar effect to that of a stained glass window.
