In this large-scale collage with a strong bodily presence, Carl Emil Jacobsen works with light and shadow, exploring how objects can enhance the perception of color. The Powder Variations series is an ongoing study in which Jacobsen transforms natural, massive stones from the Jutland heath, chalk and brick from demolished buildings into light, thin and beautifully colored shells, using the dust of these crushed minerals as the surface of his abstract objects.
