An extension of Baas’ original “Smoke” project, exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, “Where There’s Smoke” is a collection of 25 design classics that have been burned and preserved with transparent epoxy in Studio Baas and den Herder’s signature hand. The series debuted at Moss design gallery in New York in 2004, and includes Baas’ reinterpretation of work by Charles and Ray Eames, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and Antoni Gaudí, among others.

Gerrit Rietveld’s minimalistic seating solution, designed for the architect’s Rietveld Schröder House in 1934.
