When light falls on a bubble from varied angles, it appears iridescent. In the case of “The Big Bubble,” light emanates from the inside. Alex de Witte wanted to replicate this glow in the new version of both the hanging and the standing lamp. What once was clear glass is now tinted. The color of the hanging lamp becomes less opaque from top to bottom. As with the standing lamp, Studio Job have finished the pendent in bronze. Produced in Eastern Europe, De Witte used the bubble to explore the boundaries of color, shape and size. Where his designsseeks correlation with reality, Studio Job creates a fantastical world full of surrealistic elements. The “Bubble Lamp” for Chamber is the perfect synthesis of this—both recognizable and unusual.
