Today, photos of planet Earth are well-known. The “Earth Brooch” is a homage to our home, our planet, as it was photographed in 1968 for the first time from space. The epochal Earthrise was a new perspective of Earth, both revelation and mystery; half of the planet was obscured causing the elliptical shape. By using 0.5 mm-thick titanium, drilled by a laser to transform the image in 2799 dots, Bakker tried to recreate the Earth as a new icon, reminding us to look at our vulnerable, beautiful planet from a different perspective.
