Vlisco produces authentic Dutch Wax fabrics recognizable by their unique designs, colors and wax craquelé. Since 1846, it has created over 350,000 unique textiles influencing the fashion landscapes in West and Central Africa. The special wax process used originates from batik techniques. These fabrics reflect true Dutch craftsmanship and are still known as “Hollandais,” from the French word for “Dutch.” They are not only admired in Africa and have reached the fashion world at large, with designers such Burberry, Dries van Noten and Ozwald Boateng using its designs. Based in Helmond in Netherlands, Vlisco produces four fabric collections per year, which form a melting pot of heritage, craftmanship and imagination. While its roots lie in textile, Vlisco is also developing consumer products such as luxury leather and jacquard goods.
