Tom Dixon is an internationally renowned London-based British Designer. Infamously ‘self-taught’, he rose to prominence in the mid 1980’s. He set up the Tom Dixon brand in 2002, creatively directing its lighting and furniture.
Dixon worked for global design giants including Italian brand, Cappellini, for whom he designed the iconic S Chair. He was appointed head of design for Habitat in 1998, later becoming Creative Director until 2008. His own brand operates across 63 countries with permanent set-ups in London, USA and Hong Kong. Design Research Studio, the interior design practice within the business, specializes in high concept interiors, large-scale installations and architectural design. Since setting up his own company, Tom’s works are now in permanent collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, Museums of Modern Art New York and Tokyo and Centre Beaubourg.
