Peter Pincus - Artists - Chamber Gallery

Peter Pincus (1982, Rochester) is a ceramic artist working in Penfield, New York. Pincus has a BFA in Ceramics and Metal Fabrication and an MFA in Ceramics, both from Alfred University, Alfred, NY. Pincus’s work is focused on strengthening the relationship between historic ceramics and contemporary visual language, and his sinuous receptacles consequently display colorful geometric patterns that recall the geometric abstraction of artists like Paul Klee. His preferred medium is porcelain, he says, citing its incredible versatility. “It can be fluid or sharp, bright or dull, thin or thick, glazed or unglazed. Among clay bodies it demonstrates the most potential for aesthetic clarity and innovation. It also carries a broad history of manufacture and artistic practice that spans cultures across a very long time frame.”
