Nendo is the project of Oki Sato, with offices in Tokyo, Milan and Singapore. The company designs products, graphics, interiors, installations and exhibitions. With Nendo, which means “free-forming clay” in Japanese, Sato seeks to leave an imprint on the world by making small changes to the everyday. Nendo’s concept was conceived, while Sato was studying Architecture at Waseda University, Canada. The first office in Tokyo was realized in 2002 upon graduation. Nendo has collaborated with international brands such as Cappellini, Moleskine, Louis Vuitton and Thonet. Each time, Nendo produces simple, intelligent results. In 2010 Sato was jury member of iF award, and in 2012 he was awarded “Designer of the Year” by Wallpaper and Elle Decor. He has lectured at Tokyo’s universities and had solo exhibitions in Sweden, Brussels, Paris, New York and London.
