Marlène Huissoud (b. 1990, France) is an experimental designer based in London. She obtained an MA in Material (Textile) Futures at Central Saint Martins’ School of Art and Design in 2014. Her practice is guided by the motivation to challenge the way we make things and propose more sustainable alternatives. Her work is influenced by her experience growing up in a family of beekeepers. Huissoud believes that “every single natural materials available to challenge our way of making, focusing on the insect world at the moment, exploring the physical properties of materials from the common honeybee and silkworms.” In 2015, she was named “One to Watch” by the Design Council London. Her work has been exhibited worldwide at Chamber, Design Miami Basel, Design Museum Barcelona, Artipelag Museum Stockholm, Rossana Orlandi Milan, MAK Vienna to name a few.
