Han Van Wetering

Han Van Wetering is a sculptor who lives and works in Maastricht in the Netherlands. His art is typified by self-mockery and a mastery of material.

Van Wetering has lectured at Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design and the Jan van Eyck Academy, where he first studied. Maastricht is also where his most celebrated works (the carnival group on the Vrijthof, the doors of the Province of Limburg Government Building and the Natural History Museum, the wall assemblies at Céramique and Saint Servatius wearing sneakers at the Police Station) can be seen. His public sculptures are found in Eindhoven, Venlo, Apeldoorn and Purmerend. Other work is on display in permanent collections of museums such as the Bonnefanten in Maastricht, the Van Bommel van Dam in Venlo and the Princessehof in Leeuwarden.
