Studio Formafantasma was established by two Italian designers, Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin. They identify their role as a bridge between craft, industry, object and user, and seek to stimulate a more critical and conceptual design dialogue through their work.
Based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, they began collaborating during their BA in Communication Design at ISIA in Florence, Italy. They developed their interest in product design on the IM Master’s degree at Design Academy Eindhoven, where they graduated in July 2009 with a joint thesis on traditional Sicilian folk art. Formafantasma continues to explore relationships between design and craft, tradition and local culture along with sustainability and cultural value. Listed as one of twenty influential designers in the next decade, the studio has recently won awards from ICON and ELLE Décor for emerging talent.
