Studio Floris Wubben makes furniture, ceramics and lighting from natural materials, preserving and integrating nature, as it is given, into the final product. The designs present material from a new perspective. Winning the 2007 Ecodesign award directly after finishing his studies in interior and furniture design at Katholieke Hogeschool Mechelen, Floris Wubben decided to start his own studio which would focus on using uncommon and under- valued materials. Decorative materials are used for constructive purposes, and function only arises when materials are combined together. Works by Wubben—exhibited all over Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Germany and America look like they have grown organically into furnishings without human intervention. Recently, pieces have been included in the collections of the Rosanna Orlandi Gallery in Milan and Mint in London.
