Designer Ferréol Babin’s (b. 1987, Dijon, France) favorite medium is lighting as it is linked to both, the object itself and the space surrounding it. Babin graduated from Space Design program at ENSA, Dijon, after which he moved to Japan to study at the Nagoya University of Art & Design, where he realized that architecture and space were not the right scale for him to fully express himself, and decided to focus on objects. Babin has worked at Studio Robert Stadler in Paris, and in 2012 graduated from Object Design program at ESAD, Reims. In 2014 Babin was selected for a one-year residency to work at Fabrica, the Benetton’s communications research center, based in Treviso, Italy. Under the direction of Sam Baron, his projects included industrial design, scenography or conceptual installations. Babin’s projects address awareness of function and rationality, combined with a more poetic emotional dimension.
