Alexandra Kehayoglou - Featured Artists

In 1920, a young Greek woman arrived in Argentina with a loom, using a family-learned skill to start a carpet-making business that grew into one of South America’s largest production companies. Its founder was the grandmother of Argentine artist Alexandra Kehayoglou, and although the two never met, Kehayoglou is sure the art form was passed along to her from her grandmother. She attended the National University of the Arts in Argentina where she studied painting and photography, and as an artist is primarily interested in the production processes that link art to craft as inseparable components. Her work has appeared in international design publications and on Dries van Noten’s Spring/Summer 2014 runway during Paris Fashion Week.
